APPS: Facebook Announces The Launch of Their App Center

It won’t be surprising to anyone that Facebook is moving quickly  into the realm of making money. They are, after all the largest social media site, and bigger than Google. You may not know that there are enough people on Facebook to make it the 3rd largest country in the world if it were a country? That being said, they want to make some moolah from all their success.

So in recent days they are taking steps to offer stock and now they announce that they are building their own app center which will offer paid Facebook apps for the first time.

As it stands users of the huge social site search for apps along with friends and brands in the same search bar. When the app center is rolled out though they’ll search instead from a dashboard that is much like Apple’s App Store’s or Google’s Play. So now we see the big players emerging.

Paid apps were also introduced to the world when they made the announcement. For example, Zynga games which have been free will now be offered for pay.

So, if you are a developer here’s your big chance. You will soon be able to offer your apps to Facebook users for purchase. For their involvement Facebook is only requiring 30% of the transaction. Nice piece of pie, no?

As mobile marketers we are certain that app development is a great way to grow revenue. Now it can be coupled with Facebook exposure and promotion. It remains to be seen what aspects of apps the new app center will provide, but we will let you know as we find out more.

Facebook is now so integrally a part of mobile they cannot be extricated. Look for ways to incorporate both into your business.
