Storify.com which is a story-telling platform has just released it’s new iPad app. It launched on Wednesday and it’s already the 5th largest downloaded social app. Most would call that a hit, wouldn’t you?
The start-up company is only 2 years old and allows users to combine their favorite social media to make a story. The platform allowed people to simply drag and drop aspects of news articles, Twitter tweets, Facebook posts, etc. The tool is essentially a curation tool, which we highly recommend to our customers as a way to help them create content for their sites and blogs, so it’s right up our alley! And now it’s mobile and free!
A Business Insider blogger remarked about the new app that sharing info is now a piece of cake. Isn’t that what social media is all about? Tools that help make that easier are great advancements in our humble opinion.
He also said, “With each new year pushing content out to friends is getting eaiser…Finding new content is awesome. Dragging it around and redesigning it is mondo easy…”
Journalists are extremely excited about the new app. Mashable adds that this is a smart move for the company because journalists are an obvious crowd of users for their site.
“Going mobile makes sense for the two-year-old startup. Good reporters leave their desks – and if Storify wants to be a go-to reporting tool, it had better do the same.”
Poynter notes that providing a mobile app not only speaks to journalists, but could also meet the needs of other users if improvements were made.
“The app does not offer login via Twitter or Facebook like the website does… Facebook content is limited… The app has a landscape-oriented mode only, you can’t hold the iPad upright while you use it.”
By day’s end, Storify’s new app was already number five on the list of top social networking apps for iPad. Maybe they’ll consider another platform for their software in the near future.
Since the iPad is such a useful tool for business owners, especially as they are trying to curate information to create content for the sites and blogs, we think Storify is worth checking out.
