In sharing what we learn about the trends in mobile marketing, mobile apps, and mobile devices and their use we offer this short update. It indicates some interesting trends in mobile use including our dependancy on mobile apps, and our use of mobile at home and what we use it for!

Infographic: Mobile App Dependency is Growing, Says Apigee …

	www.mobilemarketingwatch.com2/25/13

On Monday morning in Barcelona on the first day of Mobile World Congress 2013, Apigee released the findings of a new study showing exactly how dependent we are on mobile apps.

It notes that according to their findings 85% of people would rather have apps than water!

	Among the other fascinating discoveries:

18% of the French are unable to order dinner without using an app

32% say they can’t wake up in the morning without an app

Some people use more than 50 apps per day

Many use apps to impress people

The infographic they have on this post is truly interesting. For those invovled in mobile app development consider taking a peak. In fact, if you don't think you should be involved you need to be in the know. Look at the findings. It's a great infographic with easy to read info.

Another interesting place to look at how we are relating to moible apps, mobile marketing other mobile related topics includes the article below. It provides a visual representation of how mobile use breaks down.

Especially interesting is the fact that half of all local searches are done on mobile devices. Check it out here:

The State of Mobile Marketing | Visual.ly

In this visual guide you'll see how users are interacting with the web and different social networks from their mobile devices.

Another interesting trend is relfected in an infographic about mobile use. Look at what it shows:

In the U.S., 51 percent of the time we are using our mobile device at home, compared to 22 percent on the road and 18 percent at work. England, Germany and Australia virtually mirrored the these numbers, and France spends only 24 percent of the time using mobiles at home.

We won't know if this was a boo-boo or a "leak" on purpose, but it's still fun to look at it as it relates to mobile marketing. First note that this was only on their mobile site. They hae a release for their new game Black Ops 2 RevolutionDLC set for January 29th, which is coming up. So, of course this might cause a stir and rumors, which it has! Or it was a mistake by a designer who overwrote the live files with test files for a test server! Ooop, Black Ops 2 Revolution DLC!

Either way it shows that they are preparing to release the information on their mobile site, and we should take note that this is how you successfully launch a product. You do it on both your sites (yes, you really do need two!) The mobile and the desktop. Also, notice that if this was a "leak" where they did this to get folks talking, they didn't do it on the desktop site. They did it on mobile! Of course they did! Younger people are more likely to access the web via their mobile phones. Gamers, techies, and the like are more likely to be plugged in through their phones.

No matter if you do it yourself or hire someone to help out, online reputation management is quickly becoming a necessary part of doing business. In fact, many just consider it now simply part of the cost of doing business like carrying insurance, taking credit cards, or search engine optimization.

Below are some helpful links about what it is and some options available to you as you decide the best course of action to manage your online reputation.

Before I share them with you I also want to point out that there is more than one kind of reputation management, each managing different things. One relates to seo, the other relates to reviews and ratings online. Both need to be monitored, and facilitated into your regular business operations.

The seo portion deals with what results show up when someone searches for your business, organization or ceo’s and managers. If negative things show up on the front page you are being held at bay from your customers. There is no policing organization (thank goodness) that keeps people from saying negative things about you. Shoot, celebrities of all types have been on the raw end of that deal for ever. It’s part of the whole “free speech” thing, and though this is one of the downsides of it, I still firmly believe in it. However, if those statements are on the front page of google, and all people can find when searching for you or your business, it can really hurt you. SEO online reputation management, then, deals with making sure the good stuff is what is one the front page. There are lots of ways to do that, but let’s suffice it here to say that is the difference between seo and ratings reputation management.

What Online Reputation Management Companies Offer

Lots of online reputation management companies deal with one or the other. Because we think both are important for our clients, our company does both. Firms that don’t explain the difference (or understand the difference may not be the best choice for your business.

Reviews and ratings reputation managers deal instead with reviews at sites created for those reviews, social media and the like. It’s completely different work, as you might guess.

Online Reputation Management Cost

Obviously online reputation management cost considers the actual needs of the company. If there is a lot of negative to overcome, it will take more effort to handle it. If a new company or one with virtually no reputation needs help, then some extra effort will be needed to get them started. Some companies just need a little help. We take the time to get to know the needs of our customers before proposing an action plan. (To get a free analysis, please call us today: 501-251-1715.)

OK – that’s not the direction I was trying to head, but is a nice alternative. Old School Samsung phone – with camera in the flip lid w/display on other side. Can’t feed the CCD (?) in to a USB cable, maybe somekind of small project board in the middle, buffer, amp, graphics chip, battery powered wifi card of some type.

It is possible. But you will need a smartphone, not just an ordinary phone for that. I hve done this over GPRS with Nokia symbian OS S60 phones (6630/Nseries etc).

If you want to stream it thru WIFI, you will need a WIFI enable phone, like N82 or N95. (Do not go for N80. I am an unfortunate owner of one. It has got a terrible battery life).

The symbian web server will make your phone as a web server on the LAN, or over the internet, and you will be able to access the camera picture through the internet/LAN.

There are a host of other applications though, which works on similar lines. You can try browsing through http://www.getjar.com for the right application.

What is the difference between VGA camera, Digital camera, and Mega Pixel camera?

A mobile phone advertisement says in short that it has Digital camera, but capacity of that digital camera has not been mentioned. Now-a-days, generally, common mobile phones carry 1.2 or 2 Mega pixel camera (smart phones carry more). What can be the capacity of this mobile camera? Will it be less powerful than 2 Mega pixel cameras, or more powerful ?

Digital cameras are typically identified by a megapixel rating that denotes the highest resolution of the images they can capture, in pixels. Visual graphics array resolution is 640 pixels wide by 480 pixels high. While most digital cameras and other electronic devices that contain cameras no longer use the outdated VGA display standard, there are still a few applications where it remains useful.
VGA camera is the lowest resolution camera,if the pixels increases then the clarity will be increases.this is the lowest pixel camera
The expansion of vga would be Video Graphics Array. It was a term used in older digital cameras. Now the fact remains that these cameras will provide the same clarity as a 0.3 megapixel image. These cameras have a difference in the sense that they provide very poor clarity and the images are distorted. Vga also implies a picture standard of 640 X 480, while we can adjust the width and height of modern day pics. The second difference is that these images do not take up much memory space as they are very small. Today we have phones and cameras whose clarity is described in terms of megapixels while earlier we had only on standard and name i.e vga. Today the standard is in the number of mega pixels which can be range from 1.3 to 5 to 12 or even higher. The term vga standard is almost obsolete today.
VGA means Video Graphics Array. It is a basic camera having very less resolution means less details and clarity . As u increases MP of camera then the details and clarity will increase
A VGA camera takes pictures at the old screen resolution of 640 X 480. This screen resolution is the resolution that we had 4 to 6 years ago and beyond. This resolution is generally used for web site creation. The screen resolution now is generally 1280 X 1024. This will display the picture in 1/4 of the screen. And different is VGA cameras are digital cameras that store their images directly inside the camera’s memory or onto an attached memory card. The images can then be transferred to a computer for printing or sent to a TV screen for public viewing by connecting a cable between the camera and the second device or by removing the memory card and inserting it into a card reader.
Picture quality ….clarity…. Vga is vry basic……..4 higher picture resolutions and clearer piks u upgrade 2 mega pixel cameras…and as d mega pixels increase d pik quality increases. So 1.3 megapixel camera is better dan vga and 2 ,3 ,4 or 10 megapixel wd b better dan 1.3 VGA is an abbreviation for Video Graphics Array (VGA) and is basic and almost out dated you can say , as far cameras are concerned. Now a days the Digital cameras are selected based on the mega Pixels .The mobile phones are now a days are coming with 1.3 mega pix to 3 mega pix commonly and the cameras are available from 4,5,6,7,8 10 mega pixels. THE MORE THE mEGA pIXCEL NUMBER THE BETTER IS THE PICTURE QUALITY AND YOU CAN GET THE PHOTO TAKEN WITH HIGHER MEGA PIXEL CAMERA TO A VERY LARGE SIZE WITHOUT ANY DISTORTION OR BLOWING UP OF PIXELS.

From wikipedia:
A smartphone is a mobile phone offering advanced capabilities beyond a typical mobile phone, often with PC-like functionality. There is no industry standard definition of a smartphone. For some, a smartphone is a phone that runs complete operating system software providing a standardized interface and platform for application developers. For others, a smartphone is simply a phone with advanced features like e-mail and Internet capabilities, and/or a full keyboard.

Translation:
A blackberry is without a doubt a smartphone as well as the touch phones or any other phone that has pda functions, can access the internet, email and text.

If you are looking for the features you mentioned then the blackberry fits the bill – you can message / take pictures with the models that have a camera such as BB Curve / it has a web browser / and you can set up your email to go to it I have two of my email accounts going to mine. I think you can set up three or four.
I personally would suggest the blackberry curve – that is the model I have and I am quite satisfied with it – I would give it a 9.5 out of 10. (the .5 comes from the fact that there is always room for improvement for anything). I have had mine for about 2 months without a problem.

What will be the future of Internet marketing?

In today’s technology, E-Marketing have already incorporated online purchasing technology such as purchasing clothes, books and even food online. Mobile phones of today have mp3, camera etc incorporated in them, interactive digital TV are getting more popular and even a fridge has a built-in digital TV. What could be the future shape of e-marketing(say in 5 to 10 years). This includes both web based and other electronic technologies.

It all goes in cycles. I remember when direct mail was used so heavily (and still is) and then when the Internet came along, suddenly advertising dollars were being shifted. But wait – now the pendulum is swinging towards direct mail again! Why? It seems that even with a super web site, people need to be notified of it somehow, and the most efficient, fastest way was to send a not or card by mail to tell the customer about the site.

It all is really just another vehicle, and the best advertising is word-of-mouth, because people go where people go. It is the Internet that connects all the thousands of side roads to each other in this massive web. It’s all going to come down to this: What is the most efficient way to get people to part with their money for things they may or may not need?

Anyone using Foursquare for a business with a non-physical location? I need a good platform fr local marketing?

I run a training and coaching business with clients all over the world and will shortly be launching a seminar tour across the USA and UK. I’ve looked at Foursquare and it seems to be exclusively for businesses with physical locations or brands. I don’t have a physical location but still want to run offers for the seminars in each location. Has anyone any suggestions for how I use Foursquare for this or is it just not the right platform for me?
Any other suggestions for local marketing are appreciated.

Effective local marketing can almost certainly be attained through mobile marketing. Have you considered creating a subscriber list for your prospects and sending a text alert for your tour dates and launch, as well as topics on the coaching/training? I’d have to know a little bit more about your targeted prospects, but there’s a way to incorporate a text message campaign into your marketing efforts to get a base of people who are genuinely interested in your services, as well as create loyalty to folks who can become repeat clients and perhaps call upon you later for virtual services if you offer them.

Your mention of Foursquare piqued my interest in your question because I have used it with clients as a means to check-in using QR codes in physical locations like stores and events, so with that said, here’s how I suggest you use the tool: Using mobile marketing you can generate a QR Code that links to your Foursquare account so people can “check-in” at your training and coaching seminars anywhere they are. Place your QR Code EVERYWHERE you can – on your website, your marketing materials, even display it online where people can scan it from their computer if you’re allowed to upload a photo (if you do offer virtual services via webinars and such) and of course print it yourself or get a local printing company to print a large one to place at each location so you can display it nicely. Also, if you go this route be sure to tell people not to forget to check-in at some point during your seminar. I always advise people that one of the best ways to advertise their mobile marketing campaign is to outright tell people because they might see the QR Code and still wonder what it is.
So as I see it, Fourquare can still be a cool way for people to acknowledge their participation even for non-physical businesses so I’d say go for it. The question I’d have for you after the fact is what would you like to see happen once the seminars are over? That goes back to my initial point which is to say if you have considered incorporating marketing that will also provide leads for services you offer down the line I’d also be sure to generate a keyword and place it, along with the shortcode (your mobile marketing service provider gives this to you) to place on your marketing materials and signage within the seminar locations. That way you can build up a subscriber list for people to opt-in and send text alerts later and this also allows for those who don’t have smartphones to scan a QR Code to be able to participate in some way.

I really hope this helps you at the very least to maybe get some ideas flowing for how to market the seminars.

If you have more questions about mobile marketing in general or want to know how to get started implementing some of these things like QR Codes and text alerts feel free to contact me. It sounds complicated but you’d be surprised how simple it really is.

Good luck!

Learn local population statistics via the Census Bureau. Your target market will be children between the ages of 7 and 18. Research other youth-friendly recreational businesses in your area, taking note of their amenities and pricing, to determine how best to compete.
2. Determine whether to open an indoor or outdoor laser tag business. While outdoor tag will be somewhat limited by inclement weather, if you live in a relatively and consistently warm climate, weather may be of little concern. Outdoor laser tag may be a much cheaper investment and integrates well with a mobile laser tag business, since you will already have equipment suited for outdoor terrain.
3. Determine what amenities you will include with your laser tag business. If opting for an outdoor park, you may want barbecue pits and benches, in addition to your facility, which will house your private meeting room, restrooms and water fountains. As well, you may opt for vending machines or a café. For an indoor facility, you may want to include an arcade room or birthday party room that can accommodate at least 30 people. Expect to need at least 6,000 square feet.
4. Purchase or lease commercial land or a facility large enough to accommodate your business. If opting for an outdoor laser tag field, look for well-drained land, preferably with a few natural barriers such as large rocks or trees.
5. Develop the arena to create a unique and safe laser tag experience. The theme, use of fog machines, interactive effects and lighting will help create a dynamic atmosphere. As well, your arena may include a maze, be asymmetrical or symmetrical, or be multi-level. Keep in mind that due to the dim lighting and fast pace of the game, most people won’t notice intricate paint jobs at indoor parks. Spend your time creating great game play and worry less about the aesthetic appeal of your obstacles.
6. Purchase a laser tag system, concession food and supplies for your café, arcade machines and vending machines, as needed. When selecting a laser tag system, consider the length of the charge for the guns, maintenance requirements, voice and sound effects, game audit control and the software features.
7. Consult with an attorney and insurance agent to develop waivers and safety policies and to purchase liability insurance. Then hire responsible employees to run the café and assist with the operations and game play by informing players of the rules and showing them how to operate the equipment.

A new mobile app helps you determine how much alchol there is in various drinks or even, say, in a whole pitcher! (That's ambitious!)

This type of simple app is a great way to help or educate your customers, meet a need, and a perfect reason to send out a press release. Those of you who are learning reputation management know that we teach you to send out press releases. Certainly the development and launch of such an app is news-worthy. (hint, hint)

Look for these kind of helpful apps to offer your customers. They can be fun and whimsical like games (remember elf bowling or "go elf yourself"?!). They can be serious or helpful. Take the time to consider your audience (or audiences) and develop something with them in mind. That's the best approach. Include your own branding message and it will be a match made in heaven.
